Delta, being fostered in TN has something extra to be thankful for this holiday season. Her foster family has decided to adopt her so she’s staying put!
Foster dad, Jeff, says she is the sweetest dog they have ever met. They’re so excited to welcome her to their family and so are we. Her new name will be Josie Wales and she attracts attention everywhere she goes, even with the other puppies at a sporting event last week. Her family said she did great with them! Congrats to you, Josie Wales, and congrats to the Beierlein family! Camo is the sweet senior (estimated to be 10) who was dropped at a kill shelter in Oklahoma. The rescues In OK reached out to us for help and we were happy that we were able to save her. Well, this sugar-faced beauty has decided she likes it where she is and has decided that her foster family will now be her forever family. YAY!
From her dad, Ted, “She is doing better since she has been with us but she is still very shy. She eats and drinks good and has gained five pounds. She is still afraid of the cats and strange sounds, but there has been progress. She likes to ride. We love her!” We are grateful to Ted and Betsy for welcoming this sweetheart into their home, and for their patience and love they are showing to her while she continues to settle in and enjoy the good life. We can’t wait to see more updates in the future. Peppers went to his forever home this weekend, and he’s fitting right in! You may recall that he was posted for adoption in September, but was then discovered to have a torn ACL. While recovering from surgery, his foster family had time to review his many applications and he was able to choose a perfect forever family for him!
From how new mom, "First thank you to all the volunteers, fosters, and wonderful people who work with SEGSP Rescue! We are thrilled to have Peppers (shown in pic on the right) find his forever family with us. In August of 2019, we adopted Bo (shown in pic on the left), an all black GSP from your rescue organization, and he stole our hearts before we even met him. Love at first sight. When he came to live with us, he slowly began to trust us and that he was with his forever family. When our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Jabu, passed away in September, I wait a few days and went to the SEGSP Rescue site. Just looking! I saw Peppers and mentioned him to my husband. He’s seen Peppers too. I felt like he was ours, but my husband was reticent and we were both missing Jabu terribly. Time passed and I stayed in touch with Peppers foster mom. It was just enough time for my husband, Paul to get used to getting another GSP rescue and I know it was a done deal when he said he put Peppers name in a new password! LOL! I always knew we would come back to SEGSP Rescue again. When Jabu passed it was hard, but how can you say no to more love? Peppers first night at our house went really well. He was so curious about our house, loved the backyard, and when it was time for bed, he dutifully followed Bo into the master bedroom and laid on his bed. When we turned off the light, Peppers got up and went from one side of the bed to the other as if to check and see we were still there. Today was checking the ground for moles in the backyard, snoozing, hanging out with Bo on the couch and taking a run at the dog park. He gets 3 walks a day with Bo - we are so happy to have him!" Peppers, it sounds like you have made an excellent choice with the Olsons and with Bo. And we have a very special thank you to his foster family for their patience and care as he stayed with them for an extended time while healing from surgery. Charlie has found his home! His foster mom Linda drove 3 hours to introduce Charlie and when he got out of the car, he made himself right at home and became best buds with his new mom Cyd's friend’s Border Collie. Cyd has 9 fenced acres for Charlie to run and hunt for small creatures, a furry buddy to play with and she is home all day to spend time with him. Perfect! Congratulations to Cyd and Charlie!
Gertie has found her forever home! And they just love Gertie (top) to pieces and so does their GSP Hank. Her foster momma Morgan had her since she was 12 weeks old after she broke Gertie out of a shelter. Thank you Morgan for fostering a puppy (not easy) and training her and preparing her for this day. From Gertie’s new dad, “We are extremely lucky parents to once again have a GSP puppy. Thank you Morgan. She is at the lake playing hard and getting to know her new brother. Thanks again to SEGSP rescue and to Morgan for our new family member.”
Congratulations to the Harris family and we look forward to their updates. Flint has found his forever home! From his foster mom Aisha, “Mommy Lesley (left) has Flint now - we met at Sandee's (his temp foster mom, pictured in the middle) and everyone gave Flint their goodbyes and kisses. We are so happy that Flint will be in his permanent home where he will be loved, spoiled and taken care of. I am surely going to miss him. He has grown very dear to my heart and I’m sure he will have an awesome life with Lesley. Special thanks to Sandee and Lynne for temp fostering him. All of our doggies love Mr. Flint and we will miss him deeply.”
Flint has been in rescue for four months with some initial health issues. He also had to adjust to a normal dog life, including learning what toys are, and his foster moms helped him so much along his journey. His new mom Lesley said Flint has already found a spot on her couch and is sleeping well. Congrats Flint and Lesley! Congratulations to Milo who has made it to his forever home in Alabama with the Hopkins family! We believe Milo was abused in his past, so he needed a very patient, loving family willing to continue working on his fears (his foster parents did an amazing job with him). He feels safer with another dog and Milo now has two sisters to help him feel safe, and a family that will love him no matter what. Thank you so much to Jessica and Kenzie for helping Milo along his journey – we know it wasn’t easy getting him to trust again.

We’re so happy to announce he is being adopted by our longtime volunteer Shoshana who recently said goodbye to 2012 alum Chowder. We’re sure Sonny will help her mend her heart from that loss and will work very hard to create new memories.
From Sonny’s foster dad, “Sonny is on his way to Florida with Soshanna. She flew in last night and rented a car to drive him back today. To prepare him for the long ride, he started the morning with a bath to smell nice and clean and then we went out and ran about 10 miles to get as much puppy energy out as possible. He was happy to meet Soshana but sad to leave his foster GSP sister. Little does he know that he has a farm with another GSP big sister and all kinds of animals waiting for him in Florida. This little boy with a big heart is on his way home and I'm glad to see him going to such a nice family with lots of room to roam.” We are so thankful to his foster dad Nathan for all he’s done with Sonny. Fostering a 7 month old puppy is NOT easy with all that bundled-up energy! Congrats to Sonny and Shoshana! #sonnyishome #southeastgsp #segsp #gsprescue #gsp #gsplife #southeastgsprescue #segsprescue #rescue #akc #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedogsofig #fosterdogsofinstagram #rescueme #transport #gspoftheday #gspofinstagram #germanshorthairedpointer #dogsofinstagram #dogsofig #dogsofigram #cutedog #pointersofinstagram #birddog #birddogoftheday #birddogofinstagram Samuel (GA) has decided to join his foster family – yup, another foster fail YAAAAY!
From his mom Asher, “I couldn’t be happier to have this sweet, snuggle bug join me on this adventure called life! After the loss of my Bristol girl (SEGSP 2016 Alum), my job, and a cancer diagnosis all in 2020 — I am very happy to say that my 2021 has been pretty full of things to give thanks for. I am in remission, have a wonderful (but challenging) job with ADP, extremely supportive community of family and friends (who just sent me on a trip to NYC all paid for!), and this “Toe-Tapping Happy Guy”, as we like to call Samuel! Special thanks goes out to Cathy, Ryan, Ali & Nathan for the care and love they showed Sammy, as well as giving the perfect name to him, Samuel!!!! He’s a keeper! We love SEGSP Rescue and all the volunteers, adopters, and pups involved in this organization. It is a blessing to be a part of such a thoughtful community. Bat Dog Sam is now ready for his first Halloween in his forever home. Love, Asher” #congratssamuel #southeastgsp #segsp #gsprescue #gsp #gsplife #southeastgsprescue #segsprescue #rescue #akc #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedogsofig #fosterdogsofinstagram #rescueme #transport #gspoftheday #gspofinstagram #germanshorthairedpointer #dogsofinstagram #dogsofig #dogsofigram #cutedog #pointersofinstagram #birddog #birddogoftheday #birddogofinstagram |
